As some of you may know I used to be a bus driver here in Dublin. This is an old photo of me and my workmates who were some of the "chosen few" and were privileged to be allowed to drive these old buses.
yes thats me jim.....i had better explane a little futher...this was taken at the transport musaum in howth a and although the busses are there they still belong to c.i.e it is a good afternoon out as there is trams and buses there dating back from the 1930 ..i had the pleasure of driving a 1939 layland r1 from there to clontarf garage...it was nice...but i woulnt like to have driven one in service for 8 hours...men where men in them days
The bus on the right has a Belfast reg and a G.N.R fleet number it must have been based in Dundalk.The 1959 bus you were driving was a Leyland Titan R and if it was a single a Leyland Tiger P
errrr.. aer Brenno. And Brendan does an excellent Robert Mitchum walk... Do you guys remember when we would do that.. Go into the hall and pick up a coat and come in pretending to be someone else.. So funny and delightful to think about. What fun we had.
