front yard! The buildings in this picture belong to the Elementary
School right across the street from us....

Just in case everyone doesn't know: I'm on the West Coast of Florida and Kennendy Space Center (Cape Canaveral) is on the East Coast.

what a view for so many miles! What time of the day was this taken? In the early days of launches there would be a big fanfare and TV coverage. Seems its just routine now. progress or not???
Yes, we don't know what's going on in the world, and outside of it, while we are going about our daily business.

I didn't think we would be able to see it until Phil assured me. It was taken between 7 and 8 pm.
We tried to watch another liftoff before that one but it was too dark to be able to see the path....

Thats amazing, my goodness its just an everyday occurrences now as Rita and Dor said. It was such a big event years ago now you just say "whats that noise" "oh just a space shuttle taking off" maybe we should have bought holidays to the moon when they were selling them in town!!!!does anyone remember that??
Yes, here it does seem like an everyday event. Worth taking a picture of it esspecially if you can see it from your own house!
I remember sitting in the window of the flat in London watching both the moon in sky , it was June or July, and also watching the astronauts on the grainy black and white TV that I was renting at the time, at the same time. how times have changed. It was all very exciting in those days.
