A friend of mine just sent me a few photos he took while he was in Paris. I chose two and I really like the top one which is the Opera. The top photo was taken from the Tour De Montparnasse. What am I doing here?
I once dreamt I was in Paris and walked all around the cobbled streets..it was as good as the real thing!!!!! I have a curiosity about France myself...Paris and of course the rural France where bread cheese and wine and sunshine are the order of the day!!!!
Mam Anne myself and Paul went to France in 1980, Jim was living there at the time and we had so much fun,we got the ferry to La Harve and drove the rest of the way to Paris. Paul had a vw Bettle at the time, there was a blockage on at the docks and because of that we were too days on the ferry coming home the weather was great and we weren't complaining,it's a wonderful place and would love to go again.Hi Dor.
I remember this very well. They all came over and stayed in the little place I had in Paris. We went to The Musee De L'armee and to a few other places., I lived just down the street from the Arc De Triomphe on the Rue Brey , No 17 so we went there and also strolled down the champs elysees. How could I forget that tiny little place. It was like something out of down and out in paris and London. A shared WC with the flat across from me, elderly people living in each of the flats around me so I couldn’t play music. There was barely enough room to swing a cat. They stayed for a couple of days and they had great stamina. I think I had a few days off to go on a tour of paris with them. We had a great time. Paul was great in the Volkswagen, it wasn’t easy getting off the roundabout of the etoile. That seems like such a long time ago but I think I still have the photos. I will post them if I can find them.
Yes we DID have a great time. i had just had Emma and Anne was just starting off with Alan, Mam Anne and me had very familiar dresses all in different colours so we were like the terrible triplets.I also got an abscess on my chin while i was there and had to go right into hospital on arrival home i need not tell you Michael was not a happy camper i was in hospital for at least three days, and because we were so long on the ferry and the weather was so good some of the patients in the ward thought i was in for sun stroke.......and i thought i had a lovely tan. Mam Anne and me all slept in Jim's bed and Paul and JIm slept on the floor,it really was a tight squeeze but well worth it, seeing all the lovely sights in Paris, oh and it was the first time i ever drank a Pink Lady and i have to tell you it went straight to my head we must have laughed for a solid hour non stop.
I was in Paris in 1992 with the school choir. We stayed at a hotel outside of Paris and spent a whole day there and even managed to go to Euro Disney. We took some nice pictures on top of the Arc de Triomphe. Thank you for sharing your Paris stories. I can tell you had lots of fun!
my paris story is quite different. Went with pupils from my school (inner city Dublin) One highlight was a visit to mona lisa. 2 minute visit to Louvre where we passed all other great works of art to see the lady herself. One wit was heard to remark " is da her" ( She thought Mona was a real person)
Very good Rita,Ignorance is bliss as the saying goes.... We did get to the Arc De Triomphe where My Mam was standing on the grave of the unknown soldier she was swifty removed off by the Gendarme, she was mortified i need not tell you. we did get to see Napoleon's tomb at the Invalide, we never got to the Louvre but if i ever get back there it will be on my must see list.

Hi Therese, maybe in a couple of weeks. Hope we'll have enough notice. Jimmy, you keep saying that! When will it be time to act?

we are all living in hope. Hi Dor
Everybody is welcome, but first the construction. The mills in France grind slowly as you all know!
Therese, I hope to go to France again one of these days. This time with mom.
