This is the original photo and it has the atmosphere of the times and of the seaside. Plus everyone looks really happy and contented. We used to enjoy the seaside even if it was sandymount where you had to walk miles just to get the water up to your calves and then miles more and it would be back down to your ankles. The most memorable thing about it really was approaching the area where the smell of the sea came in through the bus windows. It was great. The worst thing was the sand filled sandwiches.
you can't beat a soggy tomato sandwich or a black banana sandwich, that was white when you left to get the bus to Sandymount seaside..... you would meet almost the whole neighborhood there, and what about all those cockles we used to get and the smell of them cooking.....Mmmmm makes me long for the summer time.

I made that dress, expecting Carolyn here, and the photo was taken in Brittas Bay in Wicklow, summer of 71.
