do the stripes on his sleeve mean he was a sargeant that should narrow it down a little,

it was taken at roe Mahon studio 25 Upper Sackville St Dublin.

Three stripes in the American army is a sergeant, but it is actually the 5th grade level. the first being private first class and so on. Wasn't Joe the young man who married the French woman. She does look "a bit foreign". Does that studio still exist, they may possibly still have records.

The records were probably burnt in the "troubles" like everything else that had any information in it

Is this the man who was injured during WW1 and married his french nurse. She does not look Irish, he is leaning almost sitting on the table, there is a tip of a cane sticking out between them that she is holding behind his back. Also, one leg is considerably thinner than the other..
