I miss Desi, I always made it a point to go up to 61 Monasterboise Road (hope i got that right) to visit whenever we were home. Desi was a class act, in a league of his own, wonderful sense of humor, he was a favorite of my wife's.

yes Dor Dessie was a tuba player in St Thomas's brass band for many years. The band later changed its name to Dublin Concert band but shortly after Dessie lost a front tooth and could no longer play to his satisfaction but he continued to bring young Ian to the junior band where I think he played the clarinet and got his music training. This led to his music degree in trinity and his venture in composing. Unfortunately he changed career to ccomputers as it was more profitable. I am sure he still plays for relaxation.
I remember well standing on O'Connel Street in the rain on Saint PAts Day waiting for uncle Desi to pass by in the parade. It was very exciting for us. An I can still see him today.
Desi was quite the guy, very very funny, and a very gentle soul. I will always remember him as being very kind to us.
I remember that tuba from 61 Monasterboice Road.
