I remember Tommy when he and Pat started going out together. Pat was single of course and did not seem to have any boyfriends or interest in getting married; to my young eyes anyway. She was very happy to be with us and she was great fun to be around. She seemed to know everything about all the film stars, her favorite was Robert Mitchum. She used to say he was a 'real man'. We didn't know what she meant by a 'real man' but if she said it then Bob must have been 'it'. She also knew a lot about opera and got me interested in it one night when she was baby sitting. La Boheme was on the radio that night and of course we were not interested in that. She sat us down and told us the whole story and made it interesting. Then Tommy came along. It is only in hindsight that I can see the difference that came over Pat. She was around a little less. Tommy was very, very, painfully shy. We knew he was a cameraman in the Curzon and of course that made him a genius and a hero for us. We all really liked Tommy and he took to us immediately. His shyness was confusing to me. I hadn't met any grown ups who were shy. I thought only I was shy. Sometimes Fran, Pat and Chrissie would sit around the table and talk about the boyfriends or whatever the case was. They had code words for different subjects and although I didn't know what they were talking about really , I knew it was something I was not supposed to know. I usually sat in the corner pretending not to listen but I was all ears. Only in later years did the conversations make any sense to me but they stayed with me.
Yes, as soon as he loosened up he was great fun. He was a very gentle man. I didn't get to know him as well as I would have liked to because I was gone most of the time.

Pat is still fun to be around.
Tommy was shy but also great
fun. They really were well suited.
His death was a great loss to Pat
