Great photos of you Jim. Your brother says you look very well indeed!
Thanks Terry. The little brother doesn't look too shabby himself by the photo you posted.

James,I am one the other commis in that photo in 1965 worked in the Restaurant Kitchen and have same photo as you posted. Small world
james walsh, do you remember Mr.Newman and his job in the Savoy and what did you hide in your chefs hat.I was there in '65 and also with Trompetto, many stories to be told I also have that very same photo, small world.D Mc Cabe
Intriguing!!! Do tell,,,,
indeed....please do tell
McCabe Rings a bell. I would be interested to know where you are in the photo. I can't quite place Mr. Newman but I seem to remember a kitchen clerk, could that be him?
I remember Ziggy the entremetier, i remember Jean Pierre the saucier who later worked with me at the Carlton Tower with Bernard Gaume. I remember all the sous chefs and I remember Monsieur LaPlanche the chef. I also remember Monsieur Julien who left shortly after I arrived. I think he left because they didn't make him the chef. Even in those days there were politics. The chef who came to replace LaPlanche died a few weeks after arriving and that is how Trompetto was made the chef. I remember him in his bowler hat. Quite the character! Such intrigue! It was all far above the heads of us lowly commis. I remember a lot of people from that time so why can't I place you although your image is beginning to form in my mind. I knew everyone in the kitchen there and I would be interested, as would everyone judging by the response to hear your stories. There were many. What did we hide in our hats? I can't remember. Was it food?
