I didn't see Dessie in his later years either and, like Dor, there are a lot of people I haven't seen in a very long time and many that I have never seen at all. I guess that is the price to be paid for travel. It all seems so exciting at 20 until you realise that in your own later years a lot of your relations have slipped through your fingers.
I was lucky enough to spend a little more time than most down with grandad and the waddell clan... i loved to go visit...des alway's made me laugh...indeed i called my youngest son after him ...Nathan Desmond...he was born not long after he died..whenever i see a tipper truck i think of him...rest in peace des im sure your jokes are going down a treat in heaven

Desi and I shared a birthday, This is also Desi as I remembered him. He was great fun. Always a treat to visit with.
I didn't see enough of Dessie in his last years, but then I haven't seen enough of a lot of people.I remember how jovial he always was.

Also, this is really Dessie as I remember him, dry witty and always very funny with a great smile and eyes that lit up when he laughed.
According to Mam Dessie would be 81.
