This is not really a very good photo but I thought it was interesting with the village in the background. I think that is Liddys there in the background.

Ah Phyllis, this is a lovely picture of you ,your so young in it, that is the A-Team now on the corner of the lane way.. hasn't changed at all.
Yes that was Liddys...very interesting pic...and our phil completes the pic!!
Do we know what year this was taken? I remember Liddys very well. We used to put a deposit on the annuals there every year and pay a couple of pennies off them now and again so that it would be paid off by Christmas. The Beano, Desperate Dan and The Dandy plus all the other Batman types of things.
Dad took us into Liddys one day to buy a jig saw puzzle. He noticed that the packaging had been damaged so he called the manager out. He told the manager (or the owner Mr. Liddy) that he would like to buy this puzzle but seeing as it was damaged he would like to get a better price. He was given a discount and we were on our merry way. We thought Da was great that day. So assertive! He was the chap for a while after that. I can’t remember who was there besides myself, maybe Terry.
Just facing Liddys and on the corner there was a small shop where they sold cigarettes. We would go in there and get a loose player and a match and go into the back of St. Agnes's for a 'moke. This didn't happen very often due to the global economic downturns around that time and it usually ended up with someone fainting or getting sick from the cigarette.
dont know exatly what year it was, but I remember it. There is a "new bus" in the photo, makes very late 60's or early 70's. I remember when they came out. They were easy to skut... There is a Jag behind Illa, an old MkIII I think. That belonged to Dr. Kelly. Remember him??? There were a lot of stories around the Village about him.
