A Couple Of Jewels From Phyllis

Got these from the Philster tonight. Great photo of her and Linda. I have never seen this one before but it is a lovely picture of them both.
The bottom one of course is the big C back when he was the little C. This must have been taken in his pre-Rotschild period. The time of no Iphones, no designer salt and definitely no copper pans hanging over the stove. God love him.
Mam looks very happy. She must think that's me sitting on her knee. She doesn't have her glasses on.

Paul
Dr No. Is No More.

Joseph Wiseman was the first and most suave of all the James Bond villians. He introduced us to the Bond villian just as Sean Connery introduced us to James Bond. He passed away on Monday at 91 years of age. Below are a couple of links for those who are interested in knowing a little more about him.
I remember standing with Gerry Twyford in O'Connell St looking at the big ' Dr. No ' marquee on the Adelphi Cinema I think it was. The one halfway down O'Connell St. on the right hand side coming from Trinity College. Was that the Adelphi or the Savoy? Is it still there. There were so many cinemas in those days.
It was the first James Bond. I had never heard of James Bond until then but Gerry knew about him.
I just watched Dr. No the other night.

Dudley And Tilly At Stewart Park
This is Dudley arriving at the park to find his new found friend Tilly waiting for him. These short videos were shot using an iphone by Tilly's owners Marc and Rachel. The person arriving over the hill is me.
Daily Walk
Al Martino

Al Martino died today. He was 82 and lived in Philadelphia. He played Johnny Fontane in the Godfather. I met him in Pittsburgh where he was appearing at the Heinz Hall with Marvin Hamlish. He was very glad to see he had a fan all the way from Ireland and we had a long chat in the lobby. He was very personable. I asked him if he ever saw Frank Sinatra which was a mistake but he laughed it off saying " not if I can help it ". I had forgotten Frank Sinatra had been very upset with him for playing the part of the washed up singer in the film which was partly based on him. He sent me tickets to his show and the show was fantastic. He had great stamina against the Pittsburgh Symphony.
He sent me this signed photo and some signed CD's in appreciation of his time spent in the hotel and how well he was taken care of.

Philadelphia 2009 Part One
There were so many good photos that I had to split the presentation in two because of the size. It is great to see all these photos and to see everyone so happy.
Philadelphia 2009 Part Deux
There were so many wonderful shots here. I tried to pick out the top of the pops but there were just too many. I may pick out on or two of my personal favorites and post them ......

Dad's Pose

Thank you all for sending me your photos. I came across this one of Colin and I was instantly reminded of Dad's pensive pose. This is him reincarnated and no better man than the big C. to adopt it so naturally. The only difference is that Dad would very often miss the edge of the table with his elbow and wake up with a start. These were the old days of course so some of you may not remember. Mam will.
