This is a great portrait of JFK, one I have never seen before. I cannot believe it is 47 years ago today, and like everybody else in the world I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing, Even though, at 13 years of age, I did'nt realise the full implication of what happened, I knew it was terrible, and the shock and sorrow was worldwide. Very sad....
I remember this day too. I was watching Charles Mitchell breaking the news on RTE. My titty house (soother) nearly fell out of my mouth as I leaned up in the pram.
And by the way, that verse was added years later after Paul simon became a cranky old man.... Just sayin, no reflection o the author of the blog post of course.
i hate to correct you Colin but this verse was in the original song but left out in the original recording i quote :"The Boxer" was originally written with a verse that is not present in the Bridge Over Troubled Water version.........This "missing" verse was performed by Simon & Garfunkel when they went on tour in November 1969 (this version of the song is included on the Live 1969 album), and Paul Simon when he performed it solo after the group's breakup. Simon & Garfunkel also performed the "missing verse" on Saturday Night Live in 1975[5] and when they reunited for The Concert in Central Park in 1981, and on Late Show with David Letterman.

...and there was I thinkin' this post was about JFK's anniversary...
You do have a point there Anne. Things are out of control. Colin raisin' trouble again. All we need now is Audrey to clock in on the subject.
Brendan, I stand corrected, and bow to your S&G expertise.
