1972. I don't think I have posted this one before.

Can You Believe This?

March 1st 1963 with the famous Paolo Soprano that eventually disappeared under very mysterious circumstances. Mam and Dad made a few sacrifices to buy me this great instrument. I look a little pale in this photo and for good reason. It was taken at about nine in the morning and I had just spent a very anxious half hour or so on the bus. I put the accordion in the little cubby hole behind the conductor on the bus and I was so afraid that someone would steal it that I sat on one of the side seats and wouldn't take my eyes off it. A particular point for the heightening of my anxiety would be when the bus would stop at a bus stop and there would be the possibility of someone jumping on, taking the instrument and making off with it while the bus sped away and I would be left on the platform shaking my fist. This is all true. I only relaxed when we got to the terminal and I made my way with this heavy accordion to Ross Studios to have this picture taken for posterity. This is the result.

I don't know who this is with Granny Walsh. It could be Richie.

Here I only recognize Granny and Richie. I think that is Richie's wife beside him. I don't know who the children are. Please put their names in the comments if you know them and I will add them.

Here I recognize Richie, Carmel, Granny Walsh, Pat and Seamie I think and Ollie. I don't know who the child is on the right. Ollie looks a lot like Brendan.
One thing I do remember about the Walsh brothers, especially Ollie, Seamie and Dad is that they had very strong facial features.

I think this was Terry and Terry's place. I remember we all had a great time as you can see by these photos. Joanne and Terry girls were there but I don't see them in any of the photos.

Granda and Granny Walsh in Greystones: Anyone know who else is here?

This is a great photo to have in our possession. It is wonderful to see our grandparents when they were younger on both sides of the family. We only knew them as older people and we were missing certain dimensions of their lives. We forget that they were once vibrant beings who had to deal with very difficult circumstances and that our own parent were not the only ones who contributed to our being here. I hope we get more of these photos so we can all get a good perspective on the family as a whole.
I have never seen this photo before and I have never seen Granny or Granda Walsh at this age. Granda Walsh was always someone who sat in a chair in the corner or had nails in his mouth while he was repairing shoes for the locals.

Its James 5th birthday today!
