A Young And Pretty Aunt Lilly And Aunt Carmel

This looks like Sandymount.

Aunt Carmel with Carmel

I have never seen these photos before.
For the young ones: Lilly and Carmel were Dad's sisters and Jack was Lilly's husband. We all lived very close to one another and saw each other all the time. Jack worked in the Irish Press with Dad and he also had his own little business of the side. I used to work with him in this little business. They were great fun and Lilly was always the life and soul of any party. She had this huge laugh and voice that would animate any gathering. They were a great couple.
From what I remember of Carmel; she lived with Grandma Walsh for a very long time or until she got married. I don't remember her being married or knowing her husband. She was Dad's younger sister I think. I used to stay up in Grandma Walsh's from time to time and I remember Carmel going out to work on her bike in the morning.
Aunt Molly used to live in Granny Walsh's house too for a while and she used to go out to work in the morning.

En Route To The Beach At Bandon Oregon.

Better version here on youtube.

This is a lovely old covered bridge not far from where I live. Listen to the pitter patter of the raindrops amid the otherwise almost total silence. This is about 45 mins. away from the beach and not far from Roseburg.

Love this pic of my Abbie

Oona

Here is a nice picture of Oona with her younger brother Jamie, her Mom-Mom Eileen and her cousin Kieran. This was taken last summer at Colin and Joanne's house.
The other picture is of Terry and me with Oona when she was about 3 or 4 years old.

Drive In The Country.

This is not a really good video because I swept too quickly. You can see the beautiful countryside on a rainy Sunday afternoon here in Oregon. Full of moss on the trees, mist and greenery.  This was on the way back from the beach.
The music is the Main Theme from Gosford Park

Fresian Horse

This is a Fresian horse that is stabled outside of Roseburg on the way to the beach. He is stabled just about 30 minutes outside of town. This is not just any Fresian but the poster horse for ' Sleepy Hollow', the film with Johnny Depp. He didn't appear in the film but he was on the posters.
They are beautiful; natural movers ,very noble and graceful with a jet  black coat.

A Touch Of Frank To Brighten Your Day.

This was a musical milestone in the sixties when Frank Sinatra and Antonio Carlos Jobim finally got to sing together on bossa nova songs. A lot of singers sang these songs, many like Tony Bennet sang them very well but it was only when Sinatra did them did they really get sung. He did a lot of standards in the bossa nova rhythm which added to the charm of the album. He visited Brazil when I was there and caused a sensation.

A Young Oona And A Young Colin

From facebook.

Evelyn,Rita And Dor In Marlborough Street

This is Evelyn's communion photo taken in Marlborough Street in what must have been around 1949. We were living in the center of Dublin not far from the Royal Theatre at the time. Mam and Dad, plus Terry, Phyllis and I lived there for about 5 years. I don't know if anyone else remembers the place apart from Mam and Dad and myself. Terry was very young but I was wandering around the place and remember it very well. I don't remember this day but I remember the general outlay of the place. It was a good thing for us to move to Crumlin because the center of the City was no place for young children to grow up and it was very hard on Mam. She remembers it very well and she was glad to get out of there. We moved from there to Windmill Park and I remember going out the front door of the new house in Windmill Park and coming in the back door of the same house. I couldn't believe it.
This is the way I remember our cousins from those years . We would see them from time to time. They were always so pretty these girls. Cecil , who is in the picture below, was their father and always had a warm smile and a great fresh air aura about him. He was one of our favorite uncles.
As far as I know he took these photos. They were sent by Dor who found them among a treasure trove of negatives.
